The Orthodox cross is a variation of the Christian cross. It is also known from the 6th century in the Byzantine Empire and is recognized by the 3 horizontal beams, instead of just one beam as is seen in the Christian cross. This is a more subtle version of the Orthodox cross, however, with the upper and lower beams greatly reduced and appearing as an extended portion on the vertical line.
